Mother recalls how the Royal Alex team saved her son's life

Mrs R Holley, from Brighton, recalls how the staff at the hospital worked tirelessly to help her son.

She says: "My son Alan Holley was treated in Nicholson Ward at the Roayl Alex in April 1969, when he was just three weeks old.

"The staff were fantistic, not just with Alan but also myself and my husband. They kept us informed all the time as to his progress and the procedures they were carrying out.

"He came out when he was three months old, and they kept seeing him until he was five years old.

"Alan is now 38, a father of two girls and a captain in the Australian Army.

"All we can say is that we owe our son's life to the hospital and to all the medical staff who worked there."
