Three arrested after Smash EDO protest in Brighton

Three people have been arrested after locking themselves to the gates of a Brighton factory in an anti-arms protest.

Police were called to EDO in Home Farm Road, Brighton, at 5.40am today.

Three people had locked themselves to different gates at the entrance.

The factory is the target of campaign group Smash EDO, which claims EDO makes weapons components used in illegal military action.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Shortly after 10am the three unlocked themselves at the request of staff at the company.

"The three, a woman and two men, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass, contrary to the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act.

"There was no violence and no injury."

Police said two delivery vehicles were delayed but staff were able to get to work.

If they like locking themselves to gates so much, the police should have their own chains etc. for restraining the protesters and leave them there all night. Or is this an infringement of the protesters human rights?????

I expect Caroline Lucas MP will be protesting about them being harassed by Police. She's all for Protesters, Squatters and Tesco-haters and totally DISinterested in law abiding constituents.

Again! How unimaginative and boring.
Do EDO make illegal weapons? If so, let's deal with it. If not (which I suspect) deal with these protesters - permanently!

Perhaps the protesters could come up with ideas for peaceful high tech industries that would increase out exports to the rest of the world.
