The cream of the crazy golf crop will be descending on the county this weekend for a wacky world championship.

The World Adventure Golf Masters swings into action as teams from across the world compete in the seven-round tournament on a pirate-themed course.

The event is the highlight of the World Minigolf Sport Federation’s international calendar, with a prize fund of more than €2,000 (£1,467) up for grabs.

The British side will take on teams including India, China, Sweden, Spain, the Czech Republic, Finland, Portugal and the reigning champions Germany.

Sean Homer, captain of the British team, said: “The standard of play in the UK keeps going from strength to strength and with the course having hosted the British Championships in May, our preparation has been excellent in our bid to finally take the team title at the World Adventure Golf Masters.”

The championships will be held at Hastings Adventure Golf tomorrow and Sunday.
