A SERIES of events have been organised to mark the 150th anniversary.

  • This evening members of the West Pier Trust will be treated to a special evening flight on the i360. Former Great British Bake Off contestant Kate Henry, who lives in Brighton, will present a birthday cake in the shape of a West Pier tollbooth. The i360 will light up with a special illumination for everyone to see.
  • On Monday, David Marks and Julia Barfield will lead a talk on breathing new life into the West Pier site by building the i360 in conversation with historian Fred Gray. From 6.30pm to 8.30pm homage will be paid to the original West Pier and the 11 year journey to bring the i360 - described as a vertical pier - into fruition will be discussed. It takes place in the i360's Attenborough Room. Tickets cost £12 or £10 for a concession.

  • The West Pier featured in many sequences of Oh! What A Lovely War which was filmed on location in Brighton. A screening of the anti-war musical will take place on November 23, from 7.30pm to 10pm at the Attenborough Centre, University of Sussex, Falmer.
  • Nick Crane, the presenter of BBC television series Coast, will share his thoughts on our coastline drawing on his travels and his book Coast: Our Island Story. It takes place on November 28, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm in the Attenborough Room of the i360. Tickets cost £12 or £10 for a concession.
