The first images of a new development of the West Pier in Brighton have been unveiled.
The plans have been drawn up by architect’s practice Angus Meek Associates. The Bristol-based firm was responsible for developing the new pier in Weston super Mare.
The 23 computer-generated images, described as "sketch proposals", show a raised walkway connecting to a pavilion building that has a three-tier structure.
Millionaire property developer Mike Holland said he asked the architects to prepare visualisations of his £25 million scheme to save the iconic structure.
He said his plans can move quickly because they do not require enabling developments and he is not asking any banks for loans.
He said: “We have made a start. I hope it’s not going to be a long process because it’s not rocket science. I want to speed things up. It doesn’t need enabling developments.
Rachel Clarke West Pier Trust said that Marks Barfield has secured two-thirds of the funding package for the i-360. She said the land around the West Pier was owned by the Trust so any new development would have to involve them
