Attracting wildlife

Green-fingered youngsters have been creating a vibrant meadow to attract wildlife – without wasting water.

Pupils from Rose Green Junior School, Bognor, sowed the seeds of their “pictorial meadow”.

The children helped the Friends of Marine Park Gardens to create the meadow, of long flowering, drought-resistant plants at the Green Flag park in Aldwick.

The meadow was the third of its kind created by Arun District Council’s parks department following trials at Brookfield Park in Littlehampton and Hotham Park in Bognor.

Senior community parks officer Helen Wilson said: “These will create a much longer lasting display and will not need watering beyond the first few to get them established.”
