THOUSANDS are expected at a popular family event on bank holiday Monday.

The annual Hove Carnival is taking place in Hove Park in aid of the Martlets hospice.

The main arena will be packed with entertainments including the Galloping Acrobatics, the Extreme Mountain Bike Show, the Stix Drummers and Flyball.

Teams will be flexing their muscles in a tug of war and there will also be a dog show where judges will be searching for the pet with the waggiest tail and the cleverest trick.

Elsewhere in the park there will be plenty of stalls to choose from, along with children’s events, amusements, fun- fair rides, cake stalls and rides on Hove Park’s miniature railway.

Antonia Shepherd, from the Hove-based hospice’s events team, said: “The carnival is our chance to celebrate our very supportive community.

“There will be something there for everyone.

“We’re hoping to raise lots of money to support the care of our patients and their loved ones during some of the toughest times in their lives.”
