A MAN who tried to get away without paying for his taxi landed a £370 bill.
Ryan Prince, of Chadbourn Close, Brighton ordered a taxi from Burwash Road in Hove, but when he arrived at his destination made off without paying.
Instead of paying the £33 fare for the cab he took last March, Prince will now have to repay the taxi driver as well as pay a fine.
Prince, 32, was convicted of theft in his absence at Brighton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
He was ordered to pay £22.60 compensation to the cabbie for the lost fare. He was also fined £120, and ordered to pay Crown Prosecution Service Costs of £120 and a victim surcharge of £30.
Prince will have the full £372 owed deducted from his benefits.
