YOUR number one Argus has scooped two top national industry awards.

We have been recognised as Digital Centre of the Year in the Newsquest Excellence Awards for 2017.

We have also won News Brand of the Year.

CEO Henry Faure Walker visited our Brighton city centre offices to make the presentations.

Argus MD Tony Portelli said: “I am absolutely thrilled that we have won these two awards.

“They are recognition of the amazing work that has been undertaken by our staff.

“It has been a great year for The Argus and our business continues to thrive.

“I am very proud of what we have achieved and we have some exciting plans to continue our success.”

The newspaper industry has changed considerably in recent years.

While people relied on the printed word in the past, now there is the combination of print and online.

That’s why being named Digital Centre of the Year is so important to The Argus team.

Advertisement director Richard Harmer said: “Everyone has had to adapt to the changing media world.

“Our advertisers now have the opportunity to make the most of our offering both in the daily newspaper and the 24/7 Argus website.

“Both remain very popular and both are very strong in their own right but together they make a dynamic combination.

“Being Digital Centre of the Year is acknowledgement of the great advances we have made in recent years.”

Brand is key to any business and The Argus has made massive advancements in this since brand manager Bharat Lukka joined us just over a year ago.

Bharat is a well-known industry figure in Sussex and his experience has made a huge difference.

He said: “I am thrilled that we have won News Brand of the Year. It sends out a very powerful message to everyone in Sussex that The Argus means business.

“We are at the top of our game but we will continue to strive for even more excellence in the coming year.”

The brand of The Argus has been enhanced with the launch of three new weekly publications.

We now publish free newspapers in Worthing, Mid Sussex and the Lewes/South Coast areas of Seaford, Newhaven and Peacehaven.

We publish 7,000 copies of the Worthing Argus, 12,000 copies of the Mid Sussex Argus and 5,000 copies of Lewes/South Coast.

We also distribute a further 3,000 copies of the Argus across Brighton on Thursdays.
