THE first five groups taking part in a new charity business battle of the bands have been announced.

Each band will perform in When Bands Collide in the hope of winning a sizeable prize for the charity of its choice as well as staff room glory and endless bragging rights.

It is taking place on February 9 at The Haunt, Brighton, compered by Juice 107.2’s Guy Lloyd.

Keep Rockin is the house band of chartered accountants and financial advisers Kreston Reeves, which has offices in Brighton, Gatwick, Eastbourne, Horsham, Chichester and Worthing.

The G59ers will be showcasing the talents of renewable energy consultancy, OST Energy., based at Nile Street, Brighton,

They will be joined by an as yet unnamed group from award winning accountants Crunch Accounting, whose offices are in Preston Road, Brighton.

And there will also be Coffin Mew’s own band, Clover. Coffin Mew are organising the event.

John Parkinson, head of business development at Coffin Mew and drummer in Clover, said: "We’re off to a flying start with this line-up – who knew the Brighton business scene had so many weekend rockstars in its midst?

"When Bands Collide is shaping up to be a great showcase of local talent.

"I can’t wait to raise the roof of The Haunt and a nice big sum for local charities, roll on February!"

Alex Spofforth of Keep Rockin’ said: "After widely auditioning the many accountants in Kreston Reeves who are also musicians, and legends in their own homes, our finely-honed band is looking forward to playing at this famous venue and for a great cause.

"We want to win for our chosen charity, Sussex Emmaus, which helps the homeless of Brighton back onto their feet."
