IN 1975 McDonald’s revolutionised the dining experience when they opened their first drive-through in Arizona.

Now, in 2017, award-winning chef Simon Rogan is attempting to do the same - only this time with Michelin star food.

His fine dining drive-through in Firle is open for one day and is for specially invited guests only.

But if it is takes off, one day we could be seeing Rogan’s Michelin-starred drive through across the country.

The award-winning chef will forage the finest wild winter ingredients to create a Michelin starred menu.

Lucky invited guests will have a Range Rover vehicle for the weekend to explore the village, before queuing in their 4x4s for exquisite food served from a luxurious drive-through.

Simon is the owner of L'Enclume located in Cartmel, Cumbria, which currently holds two Michelin stars. Situated in an 800-year-old smithy, Simon’s flagship restaurant serves food that is exclusively sourced from the north-west of England.

At his farm which supplies more than 90 per cent of the kitchen’s produce, he grows a range of unusual and exciting ingredients such as Japanese wineberries, elkhorn fern and buck’s-horn plantain.

L’Enclume was named the number one restaurant in the UK in the 2017 Good Food Guide for the fourth year running with the restaurant awarded a perfect ten cooking score.

Elizabeth Carter, Good Food Guide editor, said: “I love the fact that L’Enclume is so unassuming from the outside, with a discreet entrance that makes you feel you’re in on a secret, but once inside there’s no doubt that you are in a resolutely 21st century restaurant operating on a world stage.

“Service is faultless, striking that magical balance between total professionalism and warm personality, while Simon Rogan is a chef who never stands still – you feel he’s always forging ahead, restlessly inventing and pushing his ingredients to extract maximum flavour and interest.”

If Rogan's drive through is anything near as successful as McDonald’s we could be seeing more of these fine dining creations in the future.
