POLICE are still trying to identify a 75-year-old man who died at sea.

As reported in The Argus yesterday, the man was spotted struggling in the water off the coast of Seaford on Tuesday afternoon and was brought to shore by a member of the public.

Sussex Police carried out CPR on the man when they arrived at the scene, but he could not be saved.

They are now appealing for people who may know the man to help identify him.

He is described as 6ft tall, slim, balding with grey hair, and clean shaven.

He was wearing a pair of red swimming shorts when found.

Police found a red, white and blue narrow striped short-sleeved Marks and Spencer shirt on the beach, and a pink/purple V-neck jumper.

There was also a pair of beige Marks and Spencer trousers with a beige belt, beige socks, along with black leather slip-on “Padders” shoes.

Two keys were found alongside them – one a Yale door key, and the other a Volvo car key, possibly a C30 model.

People with information should call police on 101, quoting serial 1001 of 01/08.
