A TEENAGER has raised more than £1,000 for Fight for Sight by abseiling down the UK’s tallest sculpture.

Nathan Dunbar, 14, from Polegate made a dramatic 80-metre descent from the Arcelormittal Orbit, the 114-metre tall tower, which is located in the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, pictured.

He suffers from keratoconus, an eye condition that affects the normally round dome-shaped window of the eye.

The cornea progressively thins causing a cone-shaped bulge to develop.

It causes loss of transparency of the cornea and affects the ability of the eye to focus properly, causing poor vision.

Nathan said “After being diagnosed with keratoconus a couple of years ago and receiving surgery on both eyes I wanted to do something to raise awareness about my eye condition but also raise funds to aid with further research.”

Fight for Sight is dedicated to pioneering eye research.
