THOSE living next to railway lines have been urged to tie down their garden furniture and trampolines as Storm Brian approaches.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for Sussex tomorrow and travel disruption is possible this weekend.

Network Rail, working with train operators, has activated its weather contingency plans in the county and is advising passengers to plan for possible travel disruption.

Temporary speed restrictions will be introduced to protect passengers and train crew.

A reduced top speed of around 50mph will allow drivers a better chance to bring trains to a halt if anything is spotted ahead.

People living near railway lines are asked to ensuring garden furniture, equipment and trampolines are secure and not at risk of being blown onto the tracks.

Passengers should check nationalrail.co.uk before they travel.
