MIDDLE aged people in Sussex are being urged to take a health MOT as many continue to make worrying lifestyle choices.

Research from Public Health England (PHE) shows 83 per cent of 40 to 60-year-olds in the county and across the south are either drinking too much, inactive or overweight or obese.

The south east sees more than 44,000 alcohol related hospital admissions each year and almost one in six people still smoke.

PHE is encouraging adults to take the One You health quiz, which gives people a health MOT and directs them to personalised tools and advice

PHE deputy centre director for Sussex and the south east, Alison Barnett, said: “We know people can be busy with work and family life and sometimes their own health can become the least of their priorities.

“The How Are You Quiz will help anyone who wants to take a few minutes to take stock and find out quickly where they can take a little action to make a big difference to their health.

“It is vitally important we work to help people to eat better, be more active, stop smoking and consider their drinking.

“By working together we can improve the health of people across south east England.”
