A LEISURE centre has opened a new gym featuring up to 100 pieces of equipment.

The Triangle, in Triangle Way, Burgess Hill, welcomed members to its new gym for the first time on Saturday.

Located on the first floor it has five zones labelled: cardio, flexibility, power, strength and core.

The cardio zone features more than 40 machines, including treadmills, cross trainers, rowers, watt bikes and more.

It also features machines used by The Body Coach Joe Wicks for high intensity training.

The power zone has new equipment such as the plate loaded leg press alongside more traditional weight training pieces such as squat racks, dumbbells and a cable crossover.

The gym also now has a large Queenax frame, which is a sort of playground for adults which improves strength.

There are also two 12 metre sprint tracks and a dedicated flexibility zone which will give members the opportunity to work on their stability, mobility, movement and strength.

The improved and expanded facilities are funded jointly by Places for People Leisure and Mid Sussex District Council.

Tom Carter, centre general manager, said: “This refurbishment is a huge positive development for our members and the local community.

“The results are going to be fantastic.

“Offering up to 100 stations, 30 more than that of the previous gym, new equipment and improved gym space, we will be able to give customers lots more opportunities to get active in a motivating environment.”

The old gym space will be refurbished over the next few months months and made into a fitness studio.

This will enable the centre to host larger fitness classes.

The Triangle offers all inclusive membership with access to the gym, more than 150 workout classes, swimming, racquet sports and access to our health suite.

Up until the end of March The Triangle is offering three months membership for £109.

The gym is open 6.15am to 10pm Monday to Thursday. On Friday it closes at 9pm. On Saturday it opens at 7am and closes at 7pm and on Sunday it opens at 7.30am and closes at 8pm.

New users of the gym are required to have an induction.
