AWARD-WINNING girl band Little Mix have announced a date in Ardingly as part of an extensive UK tour.

The four-piece, who won The X Factor in 2011, are often considered to be the biggest all-female pop group in the world.

They will play the South of England Event Centre on Friday, September 1.

Last year Little Mix scored two chart number ones – for single Shout Out To My Ex and album Glory Days.

The latter spent a total of five weeks in the peak position and became the fastest selling album in the UK charts by a girl group since Destiny’s Child’s Survivor in 2001.

Shout Out To My Ex won Best British Single at this year’s BRIT Awards.

Ian Nicol, director of the South of England Event Centre, called Little Mix “an incredible band who have achieved phenomenal success”.

He added: “We are sure this concert will prove a big hit with their fans and anyone looking for a great summer night out.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming everyone to rural Sussex for what will be a fantastic evening.”

Little Mix attracted controversy last year for their racy costume choices in a guest performance on The X Factor.

The band’s Jade Thirlwall defended their sartorial selections on ITV’s This Morning programme, saying that “you always see lads their tops off.

She added: “We get a bit of thigh out and it’s an issue.”

Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE, CEO of the promotion company behind the gig (LHG Live) said, “Little Mix will not disappoint.

“The combination of their energy, passion and hit songs will mean this outdoor show will be an exciting and fun evening.”
