PEOPLE have still got time to enjoy the colourful signs of spring as bluebells continue to bloom.
Wakehurst Place at Ardingly, near Haywards Heath, still has a carpet of the distinctive flowers in Bethlehem Wood and Coates Wood.
Experts say recent cool temperatures slowed the progress of the flowers.
This means they will stay in bloom for at least another week before they start to die off.
Head of landscape and horticulture, Ed Ikin, said: “With temperatures hovering around three degrees it is like we have put the bluebells in the fridge keeping them fresh for your enjoyment.”
Wakehurst is a country estate which is also home to Kew’s Millennium Seed Bank, which houses and protects seeds from all over the world.
