THE driver of a BMW walked away with just a minor hand injury after their vehicle was crushed by a lorry carrying rocks.

It happened on the A23 southbound carriageway just north of the A273 Clayton Hill junction, at 9.07am yesterday.

The road was closed southbound for three hours while the incident was dealt with.

A crane was brought in to right the lorry and the road had to be examined for damage before being reopened at midday.

The 26-year-old driver of the black BMW 320, from Brighton, suffered a minor hand injury. He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

The 45-year-old driver, from Bexhill, driving the Blue Scania Tippper was uninjured.
