A HIGH speed train was damaged after it was hit by a large stone thrown from a bridge.
The windscreen of the 21.05 Brighton to Bedford service was smashed in the incident which involved two males, police believe are aged between 16 and 20.
One of the pair threw the stone from Franklands bridge, near Burgess Hill, at around 9.35pm last Wednesday, while the other filmed the incident.
The driver of the Thameslink service narrowly avoided injury as the outer windscreen shattered but the inner sheet of glass held.
An images of the damage caused have been released by the British Transport Police.
The driver as left shaken by the incident.
Witnesses or anyone with information who saw suspicious activity are asked to contact BTP by sending a text to 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 559 of June 28.
