A PEEPING Tom who secretly recorded women and young girls in leisure centre changing rooms has been spared jail.

Father-of-two Jason Jones, 36, from Hove, was rumbled when he was caught attempting to video a woman getting changed in a cubicle.

Police later found a video of a young girl getting changed on his phone and depraved images of people having sex with animals.

The Slovakian immigrant, who pleaded guilty to all four charges against him, was spared jail at Brighton Crown Court yesterday.

The court heard Jones, formerly known as Peter Antolik, was caught in the act when he secretly recorded a woman at The Triangle leisure centre in Burgess Hill on January 28 this year.

Jones preyed on a woman getting changed in a cubicle in the mixed sex changing room. He was caught when the victim’s boyfriend, who had gone to speak to her, spotted an iPhone and an eye peering in the cubicle.

The boyfriend banged on the door, before Jones, who was at the leisure centre with his wife and two children, came out of the cubicle and was apprehended by staff.

Police arrested the self-employed handyman who deleted the video, before discovering another video of a women and a young girl getting changed at the Prince Regent Swimming Complex in Brighton taken months before.

Prosecuting, Trina Little, told the court: “He was re-arrested and police seized his laptop which contained 360 extreme pornographic images in deleted files of men and women performing sexual acts on horses, dogs, chickens and a calf.”

Jones, of Nevill Road, Hove, pleaded guilty to attempted voyeurism, voyeurism, making an indecent photograph of a child and possessing extreme pornography portraying an act of intercourse with an animal.

The Slovakian-native had three theft-related convictions before he came to the UK in 2005.

Michael Phillips, defending, told the court sending Jones to prison would have a huge impact on his family.

He said: “Jones would not receive the kind of counselling he is receiving in prison. It would also be difficult for his partner to support their children, it is hard being a single parent in Brighton and Hove and she would struggle.”

SPARED JAIL

Judge Guy Anthony spared Jones a custodial sentence, instead giving him an 18 month suspended sentence for two years.

Sentencing, Judge Anthony, said: "Your offending falls into two areas. Your disgraceful behaviour in the swimming baths spying on a young girl and women, taking or attempting to take photos.

“Second area falls in relation to extreme pornography involving animals. I am surprised there has been no application for a Sexual Harm Prevention Order by the Crown which restricts behaviour in regards to phones.

“These offences cross the custody threshold, but as you pleaded guilty, have a family and were of good character I will allow you to keep your liberty today."

He was also made to spend 34 days on a sex offenders treatment programme, attend 20 rehabilitation activity sessions and 150 hours unpaid work.
