FIFTY-ONE new homes are coming to Burgess Hill.

Housebuilder CALA Homes (South Home Counties) Ltd has been given formal planning consent to build the houses.

The new development will be located to the west of Hammonds Ridge, currently a piece of open land next to Selby Close.

Once complete, the approved development will feature one, two, three and four bedroom properties with 16 allocated as affordable housing.

CALA will be contributing more than £600,000 to enhance local community services, as part of the Section 106 agreement.

This includes money towards leisure, sports and education facilities, as well as the local infrastructure.

Next to the CALA site is land owned by the council, which is currently allocated for community use.

As part of the work on the development, CALA will provide an entry point to this land for future use, as the site is currently inaccessible.

Daniel Webber, Land Director at CALA Homes (South Home Counties) Ltd, said: “CALA Homes has an award-winning reputation for well-designed homes in prime locations and we are delighted to have received planning permission.

“The new development will play a vital role in generating the new homes needed within the district, as well as providing much-needed affordable housing.

“We believe our plans are in line with local needs and are sure that this development will be an attractive and sustainable addition to the town.

“We look forward to starting work on site as soon as possible.”
