A REFUSE worker has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car.
The man, in his 30s, was run over at 8.15am in High Beeches Lane, Handcross, today.
He was taken to St George's Hospital in London with serious head injuries, where he remains.
The man, from Handcross, was on duty when he was hit - and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.
The road was closed until 1.15pm.
The driver has been spoken to, and The Argus understands no arrest is going to be made as they were not at fault.
Anyone with information about the crash, particularly other motorists with dashcam footage, should call Sussex Police on 101 quoting Operation Corbridge.
