TOP former cricketers Matt Prior and Lydia Greenway joined Year 7 and 8 classes at Shoreham Academy to help them celebrate Yorkshire Tea National Cricket Week – an initiative from national cricket charity Chance to Shine.
They gave the students some top tips in a cricketing masterclass.
Then they took part in a classroom session where the students learnt about cricket journalism and they produced their own broadcast report on the day – grilling the stars on their careers.
Chance to Shine aims to give opportunities to state-school children across the country to play and learn through cricket.
As well as the physical benefits from playing the sport, the charity believes that children receive a great deal of character education through cricket – skills like communication, perseverance and concentration.
The charity has reached more than 3,000,000 children in over 13,000 schools since it was formed in 2005.
