A CHARITY wants 500 people to take part in its flagship fundraising event.

Worthing-based Guild Care’s A Walk to Remember take place at 10am on Sunday, October 8.

The charity is keen to attract a record-breaking number of people this year.

Suzanne Millard, from Guild Care, said: “Whether you’re walking to remember a loved one who had dementia, or simply to enjoy the wonderful views along Worthing seafront, your sponsorship money will make a huge difference to local people with dementia.”

Each year the charity supports more than 3,000 older people, carers, those with dementia, families with children with special needs and older people with learning difficulties.

The walk has two routes.

Ms Millard said: “Why not challenge yourself to walk, run or jog our 5km or 10km routes along Worthing promenade.

“Your steps will help raise funds for services for local people with dementia and their carers.

“Everyone is welcome.”

Entry is just £10 per person, £25 per family of four – two adults and two children under 16 – or £40 for a group of five.

This includes a fundraising pack, t-shirt, medal and refreshments.

Dogs can join in with the Woof to Remember for £1.

With one in three people over 65 set to die with dementia, this debilitating condition is something that could affect us all.

By helping raise funds for Guild Care, people are making a real difference to the 3,500 people living with dementia in Worthing and Adur.
