The Parish Council's lawyers said they would now consider an appeal against the decision.

The unwillingness of the opponents to Falmer Stadium to read and understand the facts about the proposal is simply the most staggeringly ignorant reaction to news in living memory. They have largely based their judgements on personal view and nimby-ism rather than actually bothering to READ the facts. Falmer is here and won. It's one of the greatest days in Sussex history and thank God that my children's children's children will benefit from the fights for justice that myself and many other dads and mums have carried out.

Sanity prevails! Finally a decision in the interests in the whole community is reached. If those in Falmer want to live in the countryside it's probably best not to live next to a bypass, waterworks, university and a railway line. The stadium is thankfully welcomed in the right location.

Notice it is the Lawyers who will consider appealing - more billable hours that the taxpayer is paying for!

Of course the lawyers are considering an appeal, they are the only people profiting from all this.
It's up to the various authorities to wake up, realise they have lost, and stop wasting tax payers money on expensive lawyers.

Well done to all involved in the FFA and to Dick, he kept the faith now all you whingers and moaners get behind Deano and the rest of the team by filling Withdean, lets have a great season!!

Falmer is up there with the hanging gardens of Babylon, Niagra Falls, The Sphynx and The Amazon Delta as one of the wonders of the world. The view across the discarded shopping trolleys, mud pools, flyyipped vegetables (and I am not talking about the inbred locals) is a joy to behold. This decision is a transvstite of justice. I will set up a fighting fund for an appeal NOW with a donation of 5 french francs and 200 Zimbabwean mugabebeans

Mr Matt you have to realise that the people were there before they were landed with the university the waterworks, halls of residence, bypass etc. etc. Football is a commercial enterprise that is Mr Knights interewst, players and fans are secondary. As the anti-Falmer bridgae always like to point out there aren't that many Albion fans anyway. So which is it? Either we are small in number and not in need of the stadium, or we are a threat to democracy itself? I hope it's the latter. When we get to power I call Home Secretary!

Brighton fans are not hooligans. We are ordinary people, families who enjoy following our beloved club. Withdean residents will testify that there has never been serious trouble on match days. I would really, genuinely like to know the (valid)reasons why anyone would object to this project.

All the reasons I have seen to date just don't hold up!

I'm not an ardent football fan but I can see the need for the stadium and I can see that on the whole a hell of a lot more people will benefit from this than won't and if we do live in a democracy then surely this fact alone should negate the objections!

Why does this guy expect traffic jams & gridlock?? The site is right by the A27, Stanmer Park & the University(ideal places for an overflow carpark if need be) and is serviced by a railway station, local bus service and they will probably still have the park & ride.
Living in Westdene I can't say that I have ever experienced traffic gridlock when the Albion are playing at home. Yes you get the odd supporter parking on the roads outside your houses but I've never found it to be a nightmare. I can't stand football but this is a great victory not only for Brighton but also for common sense. It's just a shame that it has taken so long and the protracted and unneccessary legal wranglings and challenges have wasted so much of the taxpayers money. I do agree with certain aspects of the first part of your post. However I do not agree with the final part.

It is important for us to maintain the 'moral highground' - as they so pompously claim for themselves and act with dignity.

We won, they lost. I congratulate everyone involved in this. It is important now to build bridges and move forward.

Mr Tilbury, the stadium itself is within the boundaries of Brighton & Hove. The only reason why LDC have been able to make a case is due to the fact that the coach park is situated within the boundaries of Lewes District. Ironic that our decision to support sustainable transport measures has enabled LDC to hold up the project.
