The club said they were delighted at the decision.

Communities Secretary Hazel Blears approved all four planning applications for the stadium itself, the coach park and two which related to the widening of Village Way.

Martin Perry, chief executive of the club, said: "Obviously I'm absolutely delighted but we still have a period when the opponents can challenge the decision.

"I hope that they will work with us to make sure the benefits apply not only to Brighton and Sussex but also to Lewes."

Although a true blue Evertonian by birth, my daughter was born in Sussex and as I believe in supporting your local team I shall buy her a season ticket for Falmer and bring her up as a Seagull.

It's like an Albion fan standing in the Palace end when the seagulls score - you want to jump up and down cheering, but you have to do it quietly in case anyone in the "opposing camp" hears you! Lets hope LDC, turn a deaf ear, stop torturing us all and get on board!

Having been one of that awfull, noisy language students in the eighties and became a German seagulls supporter during the time of that epic cup final today I'm nearly as thrilled as I've been during watching the final on BFBS and I'm allready looking forward to come to Falmer for the first match there.

Finally, a sensible decision has been made. Hopefully there will be no more appeals as the city does need BHAFC, and BHAFC need this ground. The sooner the better. Not only has the club approached this matter in the correct way througout, so many more in the city will benefit from this project. Hoorrah!

"We couldn't put the stadium on a brownfield site in Brighton and Hove because we could build lots of flats there and get lots of council tax". This decision is a complete joke! I feel so sorry for the village of FALMER . I thought it was supposed to be BRIGHTON and HOVE Albion. Losers!

If there's one team that's actually won today, it's Brighton. Lewes are the losers. Have been for years.

Totally wrong Jack, there are NO available sites in Brighton & Hove if you'd bother to read the governement reports conclusions published today, this was the best site overall, sorry for the Village of Falmer? Why? It's already got a train station, and the busy A27 and a University Site and a sewage works by it, what difference is one day a week of people playing football there going to have, sweet F.A I'd say!

I'm not interested in football, but this is great for the local community, apart from the few old Nimbys in Falmer in their posh expensive houses, and the muppets in Lewes council!

Well done Seagulls!

p.s. Maybe Falmer ought to change its postcode if it doesn't consider itself part of Brighton & Hove! Lol

You sad little weak farmer mug Jack,go back to your fox hunting, and that silly little town of yours. Is it the fact that when ever people ask you where you live, and they reply Lewes where is that, you have to say near Brighton.Go and put your time into stopping that thing in Newhaven, that more to do with you lot.
