THE CAMPAIGN against an incinerator "taller than the Statue of Liberty" is gathering pace.

Residents are opposed to plans by Britainiacrest Recycling to build the incinerator at the Warnham brickwork site, off the A264 Horsham road.

Campaigners are advising residents that they have until January 19 to raise their objections to the proposals.

Residents have accused the firm of trying to sneak the application via the back door by submitting it just in advance of the busy Christmas period.

Sally Pavey, Campaign to Protect Rural England Sussex trustee, has raised concerns about the impact on air quality with smoke plumes from the incinerator's 96m chimney could rise to more than 400m over homes and schools.
