AN MP has welcomed the Government’s decision to introduce compulsory sex education in schools.
Caroline Lucas has hailed a Government announcement this week to make personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE) statutory in the future.
The Brighton Pavilion MP described the decision as ‘”wonderful news” after long campaigning on the issue.
The Green Party co-leader had proposed a Bill that would make personal, social, health and economic education compulsory in all state-funded schools – but Conservative MPs’ lengthy speeches about the preceding Bill on the day’s agenda left her with fewer than five minutes to discuss her draft legislation.
Ms Lucas said the Government had finally pulled its head out of the sand.
