THE county has got promotion fever as Albion bid to reach the Premier League.

Schools, businesses and even councillors are helping to turn Sussex blue and white with the promised land within touching distance.

The club issued a call to arms last week urging supporters to get behind Chris Hughton and the boys as the enter the business end of the season.

Fans from around the world have been showing their support with messages and photos coming in from as far and wide as Brussels, Lanzarote and Australia.

Sussex businesses have also answered the call with City Woods Floor, among those to have done something special.

The Portland Road, Hove, based company has decorated their showroom and even kitted out their mascot.

The county's main brewer, Harvey's, has also backed the cause and changed their logo to Albion's colours.

It comes as Albion's executive fans are being urged to ditch the dress shirt and jacket and show their true colours for Albion's march into the Premier League.

Brighton and Hove Albion bosses have told fans they will relax the 1901 Club dress code for the final two home games which could see the club clinch promotion to the Premier League and possibly even seal the Championship title.

With the promised land of the Premier League within grasp, the club has called on supporters around the world to go blue and white as part of the club's We Can Do This... Together campaign.

Members, who pay between £87 and £140 a month to enjoy home games from the comfort of the Amex's corporate lounges, and their guests will be able to wear replica shirts and scarves for the matches against Wigan Athletic on Easter Monday and Bristol City on Saturday April 29.

Fans won't be able to completely discard their smart clothes, the club has said the rest of the dress code will be upheld with supporters expected to still wear smart jeans or trousers, along with shoes, smart boots, trainers or canvas shoes must still be worn with shorts and flip-flops still not permitted.

Chief executive Paul Barber said: "We relaxed the dress code for last season's playoff against Sheffield Wednesday, and a few 1901 Club members have asked if we will do the same for the last two games of the season, as we try to secure promotion to the Premier League.

"We are happy for members to wear their replica shirts and scarves for the matches against Wigan and Bristol City, as we want to show as much support as possible to Chris Hughton and the team.

"We also remind all members to ensure that any guests attending matches are also aware of these restrictions to avoid any embarrassment on the day."

Albion fans will also be able to follow the club's progress at the Amex even when the Seagulls are away as the club has organised a screening of the match against Norwich on Friday April 21

Seagulls' supporters who missed out on a ticket for the sold-out game in Norfolk can watch a screening of the match in the Heineken Lounge with fans snapping up tickets this week.

Last week councillors on Brighton and Hove City Council donned the club's colour ahead of a crunch meeting.

Council leader Warren Morgan has now scaled Hove Town Hall to raise the Albion flag.

Meanwhile Brighton Kemptown MP Simon Kirby, a lifelong fan of the Albion and a season ticket holder, has been promoting his side in the corridors of power in Westminster.

He said: “This has been such an exciting season. I wish everyone involved with the Seagulls the very best of luck. I will be showing the Albion flag in my constituency office window for the final period of this incredible season.

“Promotion to the Premier League will be a great thing for Brighton, boosting the city’s economy and attracting even more visitors and investors to our fabulous city.”

UNKNOWN FAN’S £6K BET

ONE Albion fan will have double reason to cheer the club lifting the Championship title as it will net them £6,000.

The anonymous fan showed his faith in the club by putting £400 on the team winning the league at 14/1 with Ladbrokes which could give them a pretty windfall if Albion win their last four games to guarantee the title.

Several bookmakers are bracing themselves for a six-figure payout should Albion keep their current pace and pip Newcastle to the title.

And bookies are also preparing their odds for next season with the Seagulls considered 1000/1 outsiders to win the Premier League.

Ladbrokes are also tempting Albion fans with 7/1 for the club to finish in the top half in their inaugural Premier League season with odds of 10/11 if they are relegated and 4/5 to stay up.

By comparison the club were 12/1 to win the league and 10/3 for promotion at the start of this season with Albion only the seventh most popular outright bet in the Championship.

More than half of stakes were on moneybags Newcastle to top the table but they trail the Albion by two points with five games to go.

A Ladbrokes spokesman said: “We estimate that we’ll pay out around £50,000 in total to local fans should they win the league.

“Despite it costing Ladbrokes money, we’re right behind the Seagulls and would love to see them get to the Premier League. It would be great for business in the city.”

William Hill said Albion lifting the Championship trophy would set them back a six-figure sum while what is looking like an inevitable promotion will cost them about £60,000.

Again punters poured in far more money into Newcastle with around three times the amount placed on the Geordies rather than the Seagulls.

A Paddy Power spokesman said: “Our payout on Brighton to be promoted will easily be six figures.

“We’ve laid several four figure bets on Brighton to win the league (from 14/1 – 7/4) and the same on them to be promoted (all at odds on).”
