COUNTY councillors have added their backing to calls for a £30 billion capital transport link.

West Sussex County Council has joined forces with councils and local authorities from across the South East to pledge their support for Crossrail 2, urging the Government to give the scheme its full backing.

In a letter to Chancellor Philip Hammond and Transport Secretary Chris Grayling, councillors have warned about the clear dangers of delaying the project on an overcrowded rail network, already intolerable for West Sussex commuters, with the risk of stunting economic growth.
