A COUNCIL is planning to revise its parking charges at a county park to prepare for a busy summer season.

Horsham District Council is consulting on changes at Southwater Country Park.

Instead of having one all-day charge of £1.50 there will be a 50p charge for visitors staying for up to one hour.

It is proposed that the existing £1.50 charge will be retained for visitors staying up to three hours and a new all-day charge of £3 aimed at visitors going to enjoy the park for the whole day may be introduced.

During the winter months, parking will be free on weekdays.

Proceeds from the parking charges will go towards the upkeep of the park and, in particular, the Dinosaur Island adventure play area.

The proposed new parking charges will be in place from 10am to 6pm each day.

High visitor numbers are expected to continue.

To accommodate the additional number of visitors, the council has increased capacity with an overflow car park in addition to the one on Worthing Road.
