TRAIN passengers face further disruption today as a 24-hour strike takes place.
Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union(RMT) on Southern have walked out as part of the long-running dispute over the introduction of driver-only trains.
Southern services are currently also being disrupted by an overtime ban by drivers in the Aslef union.
A company spokesman said: “We don’t expect the RMT union’s strike to have any effect on our service and we plan to run the amended timetable that’s in place during Aslef’s driver overtime ban.”
RMT general secretary Mick Cash has accused transport secretary Chris Grayling of blocking any settlement of the 15 month long dispute.
He said the Government should support a fair agreement.
