VILLAGERS are gearing up for a demonstration against plans to build a road through historic woodland.
There was anger at a public meeting in St Mary’s Church in Binsted last week as plans for the new Arundel bypass were unveiled.
Residents of the village near Arundel are angry that one of the proposals, named Option 5A, says a road should be built through the middle of historic woodland.
They claim that documents supplied by Highways England “airbrush” out the effects it would have on the area.
Gilly McCadden, an artist from Binsted, said: “Now is the time to stand up for what you love about this part of Sussex, or risk losing it.”
The Save Binsted demonstration will be held on Sunday, October 8, at Strawberry Fair Fields and Barn, Binsted Lane.
