ON election day, The Argus has given five candidates from the main political parties the opportunity to make their final pitch to you the voters.

TODAY, every vote will count to secure Britain’s future.

A vote for me, Simon Kirby in Brighton Kemptown, or for other Conservative candidates in Sussex constituencies is a vote to back Theresa May’s team in the national interest.

If you don’t want Jeremy Corbyn to be the Prime Minister of this country, if you don’t believe he’s equipped to negotiate Brexit, to keep our economy strong and our nation secure, then there is no safe way to vote for any other party or to be complacent and not vote at all.

Backing Theresa May and her Conservative team will give her the strongest possible hand in Brexit negotiations, and deliver her plan for a stronger Britain:

Controlling our laws, borders and money. ?Protecting our national security and defences by fighting terrorism and taking effective action against extremists.?

Increasing the NHS budget every year to ensure every family has the care they need and ensuring we can pay for and provide care for the elderly.

Making sure every child gets the best start in life by increasing school funding every year.?

Voting for any other party could mean Jeremy Corbyn as PM, who can’t lead on Brexit and opposes shooting-to-kill terrorists. It would mean policies based on a magic money tree, higher taxes and debt and Diane Abbott in charge of national security and immigration. The choice in Sussex is very clear: Theresa May with the strong and stable leadership our country needs at this crucial time or Jeremy Corbyn and a coalition of chaos.

There are many pledges in the manifesto. Three that I am particularly interested in are:

1.Getting the right deal for Brexit, delivering a smooth and orderly transition that delivers the will of the British people.

2. Establishing an immigration policy that allows us to reduce and control the number of people who come to Britain from the EU and continue to bear down on immigration from outside the EU.

3. Breathing space (that I championed in Government) to give people six weeks of respite from creditors to restructure their debts.
