Hove Town Hall is usually the location of intense political battles.

But on October 25, the venue will witness epic bouts of a different kind – as the UK’s top wrestlers roll into town.

Ten fighters will take to the ring to battle it out in the Brighton and Hove City Council building.

The usual political scrappers such as Jason Kitcat and Geoffrey Theobald will make way for the likes of Doug ‘The Anarchist’ Williams, Big Dad Dave Mastiff and Stixx The Heavyweight House of Pain.

Out are the monotone grey suits and ties and in their place skin-tight leotards and lion costumes.

Promoter Mark Sloan said: “It should be a fantastic night of entertainment.

“We have some of the best wrestlers in the country on the bill and many who have worked in America and Japan.

“Tickets will sell fast.”

There will be five bouts on the night with state-of-the-art lighting and large video screens adding to the spectacle.

Broadcasters will also be at the 7pm to 10pm event to record for a special DVD.

Oxford born, Mark ‘The Star Attraction’ Haskins is to top the bill.

The heavy-hitter who has worked in Japan and the US is something of a fan favourite.

Also taking to the ring is US export Ricochet, who is known for his deadly aerial attack.

But Sussex will also be represented at the bout with veteran Doug Williams taking to the ring.

The Reading-born fighter, who has been based on the south coast for many years, made his debut in 1993 and is regarded as one of the most experienced wrestlers around.

Fans will be queuing up to see his legendary finishing moves the Bomb Scare and Guillotine Choke.

Mr Sloan added: “Wrestling is extremely popular and it continues to thrive in this country. The fans are fantastic and our wrestlers are looking forward to the Hove event.”

Tickets are still available at £10 for adults and £8 for juniors. Family tickets are £32 with doors at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

A council spokesman said it was the first event held in the town hall by the promoter although wrestling was last held in the building in December.
