Katie Price admits she can't sing as single heads for flop of the pops

There will be plenty who’ll scoff as Katie Price launches a bid for chart glory with her first solo single this week.

The artist formerly known as Jordan is herself under no illusions she’s a Lady Gaga-in-waiting, but you can’t help feeling she’s not doing herself any favours in owning up to a less-than-inspiring singing voice.

“I don’t think you have to be a good singer these days,” the 32-year-old model says, days after her return from a Thailand honeymoon with cage fighter and Celebrity Big Brother contestant Alex Reid (one of a number of items I was told she wouldn’t be talking about during a seven minute, 11 second phone interview organised to promote the single).

But it seems record-buyers don't agree with her - chart figures suggest she will fail to even make the top 40.

The glamour model was on a publicity blitz this week with interviews and TV appearances to drum up interest in her dance track Free To Love Again.

But midweek chart placings show she is on course to make only number 59 following the release of the single on Monday.

At least she's being honest. I watched the interview she did with Sky. She's not bothered either way, and nor should we be. She's very clever at getting publicity, and using it to her advantage, be it good or bad. I've downloaded a version of her and Peter 'murdering' 'A Whole New World' on my ipod. It's very funny, with Katie really struggling to hold any notes at all. It's one of the funniest duets I've ever heard, and I've got 28,000+ tracks on my PC to choose from...

Congratulations on her being honest. Peter Andre and Cheryl Cole/Tweedy/Boxer cannot sing for toffee either but still sell albums.
Andre relies on tears and sympathy votes to get gullible housewives to buy his "music".

Anyway. My partners family, especially their kids, won't listen to anything unless it's been down the Simon Cowell route or been on some kind of Saturday TV show. That's pretty sad.

sadly those days are long gone. record companys are now just pure money investment companies and they want a maximum return on thier investment. the quality and depth of the music is secondary. youthfull beauty and fit bodies is what sells now. if the worlds ugliest person wrote and sang the worlds best song - it would get no airplay or t.v coverage - but give a good looking person a c**p song to sing ...and, well you know the rest!

The truth is all record companies are going down the pan.
They are grasping at straws by recording artists like this talentless bimbo, Peter Andre (had to fund his album himself!) etc, etc.
The chart means nothing, as record sales are at an all time low, and you can get a top 20 hit by selling about 20,000 units in a week.
KP has probably sold less than 5000 to get that chart place. Laughable.

I ought to also point out that its face has been stretched in photoshop, so that it looks like a reflection in one of those mirror houses you see at fairgrounds.
