Man gives Brighton Google car the two finger salute

Man gives Brighton Google car the two finger salute Man gives Brighton Google car the two finger salute

If you're a Google car driver on Sussex’s streets, you’d better grow a thick skin.

First The Argus revealed how an unknown builder had seemingly given a camera car taking pictures for Google Street View a one-fingered salute while working in Powis Villas, Brighton.

Now another workman has been spotted throwing rude shapes at the passing car.

The Street View image of Palmeira Square, Hove clearly shows a tattooed man flicking a cheeky V sign with both hands behind his back.

The man, who we managed to track down, claimed he was just being a “naughty schoolboy”.

The cleaner, who said he didn’t want to give his name, added: “To be honest, I can’t even remember doing it.

“I was just being a bit of a naughty schoolboy.

“It’s a bit like wet paint, you shouldn’t touch it but it’s sort of instinctive.

“I’m not one of these lefties who think Google shouldn’t be doing this; I think Street View is pretty useful.”

The picture of the gesturing cleaner was flagged up by Chris Whittle.

And this is honestly classed as "newsworthy"?

Some people need to get a life! I have one!

If you 'have a life' why did you feel the need to comment?

An effort to get the paper to write some real news stories which will enrich his, your, and everybody else's life perhaps?

Dear Argus-
.
As you are obviously paying someone to go street surfing on Google to find pictures of people "at their best", I'd like to submit my CV for your review. I have extensive experience wasting time surfing the internet and street surfing in various places. My extensive time wasting capabilities ensure that you can expand your Google Streets articles beyond Brighton and Hove. I would immediately expand to neighboring Portslade, Shoreham, Worthing and the 'Deans.
.
Just think of the massive volume of articles I could generate, with such scintillating titles as "Person gestures obscurely at Google van", or "Parking Warden seen ticketing illegally parked wheelchair on Google Street View", or "Argus employees seen vacating bankrupt newspaper building on Google Streets".

I agree with chipmunk,77. The Argus is supposed to be a local NEWSPAPER which keeps the local residents up todate with the news, not showing ridiculous pictures of idiots behaving like morons. The Argus is taking money under false pretences, from people who purchase the apology for a newspaper, and if I didn't have the internet, I most certainly wouldn't waste my money on it. It is going from bad to worse. Either get new reporters or go out of business.

In these troubled times we need to do everything we can to attract decent people to our fair city. And what impression do we give by making obscene gestures to honest folk going about their daily business?

The Argus was absolutely right to remind us all of how much improvement there is still to be made.

You'd think the Argus would be more concerned with the fact that the poor man in the photo is melting.

I'm really shocked, they seem such well brought up, innocent lads - not looking like scallys dealing in "stuff"

I'm not a scally actually. And by the way, I'm not flicking the Vs, I'm scratching my back.
