A home Olympic and Paralympic medal tribute has proved to be a hit with neighbours.

Ann James, 65, turned three trees outside her house in Hangleton into a podium and medal table.

She tied gold, silver and bronze decorative ribbons to the trees every time Team GB won a medal - but the success of the British team came at a price.

She said: “Because medals are given out so much and so many records are being broken I waited until the end of the day, added them all up and went and put them up sometime during the evening.”

The retired hospital worker enjoyed the Paralympics just as much as the Olympics but confessed to having a soft spot for the athletics.
