Snow falls across Sussex

Snow is falling across Sussex.

People are reporting snowfall in Lewes, Bexhill and Eastbourne.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said CCTV cameras from Cantelupe Road in Bexhill showed about two inches of snow had so far fallen.

She added: “Cars are going very slowly and there has been a good amount of snow dumped.”

Meanwhile on social networking sites people are claiming snowfall in Lewes and Eastbourne.

One woman who lives close to Eastbourne said: “Yay!! It's snowing!!

"But only little flakes. Don't think we will get much. But it is still exciting. Will def have to wrap up warm for today.”

The Met Office this morning issued an advisory of severe or extreme weather, informing of likely snow fall in East Sussex, Brighton and Hove and West Sussex.

The Met Office said: “Snow showers will spread northwards during the morning giving accumulations of 5cm in English Channel coastal districts.”

From tomorrow the Met Office has advised for the same region the risk of “drifting snow and heavy snow” up until Wednesday. We want to see your pictures of Sussex in the snow.

It's snowing in Peacehaven and settling on the ground which is not good news. The supermarkets are reporting empty shelves as people are expecting road closures and transport to be stopped - just like every time it snows round here because of the hills.

Snow stopped falling in Eastbourne at about 10am and soon melted. But it started again an hour later and hasn't stopped. About half an inch deep, but doesn't seem to be getting any deeper.

No snow here in Hollingdean, but just been told it's snowing in the Lanes. Maybe it can't get up the hill.

No snow in Rottingdean and looking at meteox.com the 3 snow flakes I saw earlier are probably it. Looks lie the normal panic about nothing. All good for me as I am playing golf again tomorrow at Pyecombe.

It was definitely snowing in Brighton at around 2pm; everyone in BHS got a bit excited when we all noticed.

I live on London Road and work in Hove and I got to work fine last time it snowed. Bring it on!

There is No business like SNOW BUSINESS! so my Granny says, when she was a girl, it was not considered News when it snowed... although what does she know hahaha She probably never even got to read the Fire Brigade Twitter 10 times a day.
