A Mini caught fire after colliding with a Range Rover on Brighton seafront.
Revellers at the Amsterdam bar in Marine Parade looked on as firefighters tackled the blaze.
Four people got out of the car when it began to plume smoke after what was described as a minor collision.
The car was engulfed by flames, causing several 999 calls from bystanders from 10.17pm onwards.
Firefighters from Roedean Community Fire Station took just 15 minutes to put the fire out.
The Mini was destroyed, but no-one was injured.

so the driver and passengers didnot think to call 999 themselves when smoke appeared, bystanders done it when car was engulfed, just as well they didnt have head under bonnet wondering were smoke was coming from.

I'm sure they did call the emergency services, you pedant, just because the article didn't mention they did doesn't mean they didn't. The report was probably put together from statements from witnesses who would have all been quick to say "I called the Fire Brigade" etc

It was amusing to hear the drag queen at the Amsterdam singing "relight my fire" as the mini was going up in flames.
Looked like a brand new mini too, shame.

Thanks to hero Scottish John for attempting to quell the flames with water in a pint glass from the amsterdam. He even stepped in to re-direct the traffic and saved many lives in the process. He deserves a medal!

I was the driver of the car and the first thing i did when getting out was call the fire brigade, police and ambulances, so to the moron who can't spell I'm sorry that I was too busy in the ambulance to talk to the reporters.
Glad everyone finds it amusing though.

Shouldnt everyone be more concerned that the driver and passengers are safe and uninjured rather than the state of the mini and taking the **** out of something that could have been very serious!? I cannot believe how rude and inconsiderate some people can be!!

I was one of the passengers, the most important thing is that no one was hurt! i Find it really pathetic that certain anon people are so quick to assume we didn't call the emergency services. and to SM posting a comment "Looked like a brand new mini too, shame" Not really what car have you got..........loser!!

It was a minor collision, there is no implication of dangerous driving or that she was driving to fast.
Pipe down Amsterdam Reveller and show a bit of compassion for the people in that car who have obviously had a horrible experience.

No doubt Brighton came to a standstill because of this bint's driving.
BMW Mini
BMW says it all.
And how the hell did she not see a Range Rover ???? Not exactly small are they? Too busy doing her make-up probably.

Anon,
I agree it was a minor collision, at least it was with another car and not a minor collision with a child. At least Katie doesn't have a car now. Another dangerous driver off the roads ! YAY!

Anon,
People COULD have been seriously injured or worse. Thankfully, no-one was, I certainly wouldn't find any amusement in this situation if people had been hurt. They weren't. Like you said it was a minor collision. It did cause disruption to other drivers and it must have been a horrible experience for both drivers and all passengers involved, but when you say there was no implication of dangerous driving is incorrect. If there was no dangerous driving there would not have been a collision. Katie was at least driving poorly or her mini would not have went head first into a land rover. She should be held accountable thankfully not for any injuries but for the disruption involved and the "horrible experience" that she had and all others involved.

SM you're obviously a bit f*cked up in the head if your only concern is the effect this would of had on the traffic. The 4 people in that car could of been seriously injured or even worse. Have a think about if that was a family member or friend of yours. Actually you're probably too self involved and wouldn't give a toss as long as it didn't stop you gettin to your drag show![/quote] but they weren't.
were they.
Still boils down to the poor driving of the bint behind the wheel.

I was in the car too, amongst the crisps bags under the passenger seat. Can't comment on the driving, but the passenger's feet could do with a wash.

These comment forums are such a waste of time as in the end they always end up with people argueing with each other. The obvious thing here is that everyone was safe.

Jesus Christ, it was a minor incident obviously caused by a simple mistake. I am pretty sure that anyone who has passed their driving test has made a mistake while at the wheel, therefore should be more considerate to others in that horrible situation. As for the illiterate idiot who is calling her a “bint “ ….. you are embarrassing yourself

I was in the front passenger's side of the mini. It was a simple mistake that anyone could have made. Anyone can momentarily lose concentration at the wheel and Katie was just unlucky that a car had stopped just in front of her unexpectedly. The car didn't immediately catch on fire. I got back in when there was no smoke or fire, to move it out of the middle of the road because so many **** were beeping and shouting abuse. So I was trying to cause less of an inconvenience. It was only then that the car burst into flames so I jumped out. Katie is not 'bint', she just made a mistake. It is pathetic and cowardly to say that online anonymously, and believe me, if I heard you say that in front of me you'd definitely regret it. We called the emergency services staright away, just others obviously did too.
Don't worry Katie, no one was really hurt and it is just a car. Mini's are obviously crap and have a design fault anyway.

this is one of the most pointless arguments i have ever read. This forum is to discuss what happened, not for a vacuous moron to voice his needless opinion. Anon and amsterdam reveller, I cannot comprehend why feel the need to be so spiteful to someone who is clearly upset and apologetic. What are you gaining? You automatically assumed that nobody in the car called the emergency services, purely because the article doesn't state it. People such as yourselves are a complete waste of time. As for referring to katie as a "bint", all you are establishing is proof of how much women intimidate you. "doing her make up in the car".....good one mate. Almost as witty as you arguing on a public chat forum about the car you own, because we're certainly all impressed with the fact that you drive an alfa romeo and seem to have prejudice against people with nice cars. I suggest that you leave the argus alone and go and post on the daily sport forum. Maybe you could write a gripping piece about the amount of immigrants taking "all our jobs".
