A PARISH councillor will attempt to cycle 100 miles for charity.

Penny Bullimore, a 65 year old member of Thakeham Parish Council, will be retracing the route of the London 2012 Olympic cyclists in the Ride London-Surrey 10 event.

Luckily, Mrs Bullimore is a fitness fanatic, having previously completed marathons and triathlons and has already been doing 60 mile bike rides in preparation for the event.

One of the highlights of the ride for Mrs Bullimore will be in Richmond where she will cycle past the place she got married in.

Mrs Bullimore, who is also a member of Horsham Cycling Club, is hoping to raise £500 for Oxfam, which would pay for a sterilizing unit to help prevent people from getting injuries.

More than 200,000 cyclists are expected to be taking part in the challenge on August 10, which will begin at the Olympic Park in East London before going on a 100 mile route through closed roads into the Surrey countryside.
