IT'S back to school for some readers. Or, should we say, casting their minds back. Admittedly there will probably be only a few of our readers now who are still alive or remember being in one of these two pictures.

But you may spot a relative - that's the hope of Pamela Burt, who unearthed these images and sent them in to us.

The top image shows a class of children at St Nicholas's School in Portslade in what is believed to be either 1938 or 1939.

Mrs Burt, who lives in Bognor, said: "I thought it might be interesting for people to see this.

"In the bottom-hand right corner wearing glasses is Jean Legg, who lived in Abinger Road. Her father worked for Brooke Bond Tea.

"In the top row, second right, is me. I also lived in Abinger Road. Top row, fourth right is Pamela Parker and sixth from right is Margaret Steed."

Mrs Burt’s other image shows a girls’ school in Lewes in the early 1920s. Her mother Mable Dadson of Morris Road is pictured bottom row, second right.

She says the teacher’s name was Miss Tutt and wonders if she was any relation to a civic councillor with the same name.
