THESE dramatic pictures taken in 1960 show a seemingly grandiose building that has been gutted for an unknown reason.
It is possible to make out the word “Hotel” on the side of the establishment, just underneath the point where the wall has been completely destroyed.
Can you identify this building? Are you able to tell us the reason for its destruction? Perhaps you stayed there at some point before the damage was done?
In the picture directly above, featuring a group of intrigued onlookers, the building is significantly more diminished than it appears in the picture to the right.
What was the reason for this stage-by-stage destruction? Was it a case of slowly deconstructing the place once the initial devastation had been wrought?
The picture showing the ravaged interior of the building is particularly striking and seems to suggest that the damage was due to a fire.
Again, if you are in the know, please get in touch and let us know.
