BOTH of today’s photographs are from 1940 and very much speak of the time.
The first photo was taken on Brighton seafront next to the pier, we think.
The building behind looks like where Harry Ramsden’s now is.
There is a real mix of people walking across the street: young and old and of all classes.
Given it is 1940 there is, of course, a man in uniform.
Nearly everyone is wearing a hat as you would expect from the time and by the looks of the heavy coats it is winter.
Do you recognise anyone in the picture? Perhaps a grandfather or grandmother?
Although the country was at war, life continued and people made the most of their precious time off.
Our second photograph today shows an award ceremony at a dog track.
All five of those in the foreground look like they have a story to tell.
The young lad holding the dog certainly appears a little sheepish.
And we just love the magnificent trousers the man on the far left is sporting.
