LOOK at this cheeky chappie, grinning with crowds and smiling out of the window of an Evening Argus delivery van in the sunny summer of 1957.
Who could he be? Maybe a stalwart Argus employee who was famous for always doing the rounds with a smile on his face, or even falling over hilariously on the pier as he distributed the latest edition to the crowds?
Is that why so many people have gathered around him in the photo to the left, aware he is having his photo taken?
We jest, of course. It’s Norman Wisdom.
Earlier this week our failure to identify an equally famous humorist led to a bulging inbox so we are holding our hands up for not having spotted it was Max Miller racing the greyhound in Monday’s edition.
Those of us who bring you Timeout rely on the wisdom and memories of our readers to fill gaps in the knowledge of we humble journalists who may not know Brighton’s history so well.
So thank you everyone who wrote in.
