WITHDEAN Stadium has played host to a number of prominent athletes over the years.
Since the running track was opened in 1980 by runner Steve Ovett, Sally Gunnell and fellow gold medallists Daley Thompson as well as Steve himself have all trained and competed on the track.
Brighton-born Steve, who won gold in the 800m at the 1980 Moscow Olympics had a statue unveiled in his honour and was made a freeman of the City of Brighton in 2012.
Did you attend the opening in 1980 and were there any other notable guests alongside Mr Ovett?
Mayor John Leach attended the opening ceremony to give a speech to the crowd and mark the occasion.
Sally Gunnell, who won the 400m hurdles at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, cut the ribbon to open the renewed track in 2013.
On a rather different note, we have a picture of Margot Cooper in 1986 campaigning to stop buses using Cuthbert Road.
Do you know what the outcome was?
