TODAY we look back at building works carried out on the Royal Pavilion in Brighton along with other local sights to be seen, such as Shoreham Harbour.
The gardens surrounding the Royal Pavilion were re-created during the 1980s and early 1990s.
It was originally designed for King George IV by John Nash and laid out between about 1816 and 1825.
In 1982, in conjunction with a complete refurbishment of the Pavilion itself, the re-creation of Nash's 1826 layout for the grounds got underway.
The redevelopment used documented sources and contemporary plant species to bring the grounds back to life.
Restoration works to the gardens in the western boundary area were completed around the turn of the new millennium.
The refurbishments included work on the Dome, Corn Exchange and Museum.
Photographs can be seen above showing some of the works taking place, such as on the roof of the Royal Pavilion and some of the internal renovations that were carried out.

Hove Town Hall, built in 1970-3 and designed by John Wells-Thorpe, was an example of 1970s Brutalist architecture replacing the gothic town hall on the site that was destroyed by fire in 1966.
The Alternative Miss Brighton show began in 1987 and grew from a bit of fun to a hugely successful event that attracted large audiences.
Craig Masson won the title in 1992.
