Many of your readers will be aware I am no lover of cyclists and the amount of money this council spends pandering to them.
However, I must now make an exception, and ask when is the council going to promote and sell the Tour of Britain Cycle Race (Sept 13).
In recent weeks we have seen councils in Yorkshire, Cambridge and Essex pull out the stops and bring economic and tourist booms/bonus to their local areas.
Is it beyond our council to start now?
Give out the route, encourage street decoration, let’s welcome supporters of the race, and have a city that befits a national event, enjoys a day of free National TV coverage, and a city that shows we welcome visitors.
It’s free advertising for the city of Brighton and Hove and a much welcome boost to the coffers of local business.
Give us route and times, residents will rally to the call. It is a Saturday, with a seafront finish.
