Horsdean Travellers Transit Site costs £185,000 per annum to operate. With 21 pitches available, each costs £169 per week and they are required to pay only £60.
Now reduced to ten pitches, the cost soars to £355 per week and they still only pay £60.
The proposed Hangleton Bottom site was expected to cost £120,000 per annum to run.
This represents £154 each per week for 15 pitches. What would they have been expected to pay to honour the council’s website assurance: “Travellers living on the site will pay rent and council tax?”
They pay barely 17% of the cost of the facilities we provide for them without our consent. Should we not all now send polite notices to the council saying we will only pay 17% of our council rents and council tax until the city gets its house in order?
By the way, when may I expect my refuse to be collected?
